I took this photo four years ago for my photographic bachelor thesis in Svalbard (Spitzbergen). Back then I was struggling with the decision if I should study natural sciences after finishing my degree in photography. Coming to Svalbard really helped making that decision. It’s a magical place which makes you feel like you are on an alien planet. A harsh but beautiful planet. One you want to come back to and one you want to know more about. I also met very inspiring people, who encouraged me to follow my interests, no matter what others might think or social norms might suggest.
So beeing back here feels like a dream come true and also brings up a lot of old memories. I am so happy and grateful that I can be here again and that I am allowed to study at the place that has always inspired me.
